Courses (9:30am - 4:30pm, Lunch 12:30pm - 1:30pm)

1. Robotics - Leggo Yuh Mind (30 hours, $9,400)
In this intensive 1-week course, participants will build robots using basic components and control them with instructions from the computer
  • Overview of robotics
  • Learn about mechanics, gears and sensors
  • Learn simple computer programming
  • Work in pairs, collaborate in teams
  • Design your own robot & send it on a mission
  • Be a part of the upcoming National Robotics Competition/Exhibition

2. Video Game Programming - Mek Yuh Game (60 hours, $18,800)
This 2-week course provides students with an introduction to the fundamentals of C/C++ programming, computer hardware theory and the essential elements that go into making a video game. It also introduces students to ProjectFUN, a proprietary suite of tools designed to make the process of learning how to program games fun. Students then apply their knowedge to create their own computer/video game by the end of the workshop. Specific topics covered include:
  • Overview of the video game production process
  • Introduction to the C/C++ programming language
  • Game loop concepts
  • Mouse and keyboard input
  • Animation
  • Object Behaviours
  • Sound Effects and music
  • Special effects
3. 3D Animation - Animate Yuh World (60 hours, $18,800)
This 2-week course is designed to give students an introduction to the concepts and the process of creating a 3D computer animation.Special effects and 3D animation are used in many of our current computer/video games and Hollywood movies. Students will also be taught about the importance of strong traditional art skills when using this technology as a production tool. Some of the topics presented include:
  • Overview of the 3D computer animation industry
  • Basic modeling techniques
  • Creation of materials & texture maps
  • Basic lighting techniques
  • Basic camera manipulation
  • Hierarchy linking
  • Basic keyframing techniques
  • Rendering
4. Digital Music - Build Yuh Riddim (30 hours, $9,400)
In this intensive 1-week course, participants will use digital samples and computer software to create their own musical beats and rhythms.
  • Introduction to basic genres, melody, tempo and form
  • Learn how to use music making software (Fruityloops, Acid, Sound Forge)
  • Learn about the music industry and the history of Jamaican music
  • Meet some of Jamaica's top producers and engineers
  • Visit a professional recording studio and production facility

General information:
- Courses are taught by knowledgeable and experienced instructors
- 1 instructor to 12 students (limited spaces)
- Enhance your creativity & learn real-world skills
- Typing skills and Math competency are an advantage
- Recommended age, 10 years and older
- NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED, ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED
